Today’s ayah is as apt as yesterday’s. It is directed to Adam (as) and Eve, when they were asked to leave the Jannah and dwell in the earth. However, as it is with Quran, it is as much applicable to us, even today, as it was then when our parents started life on earth. The first dwellers on earth. Subhan Allah 🙂
We said: “Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. (Al Baqarah 2:38)
First, we should all know and believe that guidance, in whatsoever form is from Allah and Allah alone. None can guide you except for Allah swt, and if He swt chooses to lead you astray, then none can save you either from being misguided. May Allah keep us among the guided ones, Ameen. Next, what is important to understand from my point of view, is that Guidance is either from a direct source – from Quran and Sunnah or from an indirect source, that is people, situations and circumstances we face, so as to say Life! The indirect source is just a means of guidance that Allah swt has chosen for you to learn from. That’s all there is to it. Also, when you think of it, to properly understand the Quran, we read tafsir, watch videos from scholars, they too become a means of our guidance. Intermediate sources might vary from one person to another. However, the ultimate source of all guidance is Allah swt alone.
Moving on to the Ayah, it states in vividly the truth we are struggling with today. There is so much information available on the net, so many messages, hadeeth, videos circulating in social media, facebook, whatsapp, that it really is difficult to know the right from wrong, the authentic from fabrications. This Ayah to me, addresses that issue too.
We should not take ever thing that comes to us blindly. Yes, it was meant to reach you and No, that doesn’t mean it is always right. You need to verify whatever information comes your way, to check its authenticity, to understand in what context it was sent and it is to be used, whether it is really a sunnah or an innovation, a true or a fabricated hadeeth, before you start implementing it in your life. More importantly, before you start forwarding it to all your contacts or sharing it on Facebook! Beware Allah swt will ask you about it. If someone follows it because of you, and it is not an absolute truth, you will be equally responsible for their misguidance. May Allah swt protect us from such errors and hold us not for account for the mistakes that we ignorantly commit. Ameen.
Also, we should remember, none of us are perfect in our faith. Everyone shares or forwards the information with good intentions and seeking reward from Allah swt, except for a few mischief makers. However, that doesn’t mean we should lenient with what we are sending forth. Take yourself into account before you are taken into account!
Allah swt says, if you follow my guidance, live your life by laws and commands, you will never find anything to fear or to grieve. Grief and fear are both inevitable in this world, in our life. But Allah swt promises us that if we live by His word, the Glorious Quran, and Sunnah of the Beloved, which is the ultimate guidance for living life, there is nothing we have to be sad about or to fear, neither in this world nor in the next. May Allah swt make us among those. 🙂
True happiness, is not meant here in this duniya, but in Jannah alone. But there is no problem in being happy here too 😀 Allah swt always wants His creation to enjoy this world as much as we want; just do not go overboard with it and forget our real purpose of worshiping Him. Also, if you seek happiness through other means, and not through the guidance of Allah swt, then rest ensured, you will be temporarily ‘high’ on happiness which will be followed by an empty sadness for a long time. There is no peace, no contentment in life, if you follow anything else but what He swt has commanded you to. And the world is filled with such stories! People who have everything, are the richie rich, and still are not happy, not content, not at peace and some end their lives too! It is sad but true.
Whenever you distracted by the pom pom and glitter of this world, remind yourself that true happiness and success comes only from following Allah swt’s word and Sunnah. What shines here, will be only darkness there. Do you want to get temporarily ‘high’ or get that eternal bliss. It is your decision!
May Allah keep us all among the guided ones. May He swt keep us on the straight path. May He swt not make us a source of misguidance to any one. May He swt give us the strength and patience, to overlook the charms of this world and focus on the real gems of happiness in eternal life to come.
